Born in Scunthorpe, England, in 1949, Cabourn studied fashion design at Newcastle Polytechnic before launching his first clothing label during his student years. After establishing his namesake label, Cabourn spent nearly six decades shaping the world of menswear. His collections often drew inspiration from real historical figures, military expeditions, and vintage garments from his extensive archive of more than 4,000 pieces. Fashion experts frequently praised his ability to blend history with modern wearability.  

Beyond his own brand, Cabourn collaborated with several major international companies, including Converse, Fred Perry, Umbro, Karrimor, and Red Wing Boots.
